The Just Transition Commissioner says the application process for funding is too regimented.

Kieran Mulvey says capacity-building training, provided through the "Connecting Communities with Peatlands" initiative will teach local groups to navigate the system.

However, he believes initial grants should be increased so communities in the midlands can hire professionals to help get projects off the ground.
