The Just Transition Commissioner attended the Midlands Regional Transition Team today in Offaly.
Kieran Mulvey a former director general of the Workplace Relations Commission took up the role earlier this month.
He will work with relevant groups affected by the imminent ending of peat harvesting in the midlands.
The commissioner will then make recommendations and report to government through the Environment Minister.
