Laois TD Charlie Flanagan went on the offensive against his Sinn Féin counterparts.
Reports and rumours of the demise of services Portlaoise Hospital are fake news.
Laois Fine Gael TD and Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan is making the claim as Sinn Féin states their belief that no action will be taken at the facility until after an election is over.
He believes the hospital is a viable resource well into the future and has invited Health Minister Simon Harris to visit the Midlands in the run up to Christmas.
Minister Flanagan says his Sinn Féin counterparts are in the politics of misery:
But in response, Portlaoise Hospital Action Committee says it has no faith in Minister Charlie Flanagan.
Chairman of the action group, Thomas Timmons, says they are still waiting for reassurance from the government that the facility will not be downgraded.
Minister Flanagan says he's invited the Health Minister to visit the hospital before Christmas.
But Mr. Timmons says they've been left in limbo:
