Councillors in Laois are unanimously calling on the chair of Bord Bia to step down.
Local reps want the Government to enhance vetting procedures for chairpersons of semi state bodies like the food regulation company.
Larry Murrin, who also is the CEO of Dawn Farm Foods is being asked to resign after revelations his company imported beef from Brazil.
Fine Gael councillors jointly tabled a motion for Mr Murrin to resign, directly contradicting the position taken by their party leader, Tanaiste Simon Harris, and the Agri Minister, Martin Heydon.
