A Support System in Flux
Addressing concerns regarding the cost of doing business, the Council emphasized that they are open to discussions regarding commercial rates.
While rates remain a vital component of the current funding model" essential for maintaining the quality of local services"the Council maintains that they are committed to working with business owners to provide incentives where possible.
As Portlaoise says goodbye to an iconic business that served generations, the focus turns to the future.
The challenge for local authorities and business owners alike will be to ensure that as the population grows, the heart of the town remains a vibrant place where commerce and community can coexist in a new, digital age.
