Business people have been speaking out about the pressure to pay fees during covid-19.
Laois County Council is deferring commercial rates for three months up to the end of May.
It says no further invoices to businesses will be issued in this time.
It comes after the local authority in Offaly said it was statutorily obligated to issue rates bills to businesses in the county last week.
Because of the fluid situation regarding covid-19, the executive in Laois say the situation will be kept under constant review going forward.
Public health officials will examine whether it's appropriate to lift any restrictions after next Monday. https://t.co/jaWaWWcOMZ
