Laois has shot up the rankings in terms of cheapest insurance, moving from 16th in January of this year to 4th in September - the average rate there is €606.
A €667 price tag in Offaly is also a steady improvement, with the county jumping up six places in Chill's survey.
Westmeath, however, has plummeted to 18th, down from 7th in January - the average cost of car insurance there is €692.
19 year-olds face the most expensive rates, at an average of €1,884, while the 60-69 range is typically offered a fee of €445.
If you're in the market for a new car, you might want to set your eyes on a Dacia, Kia or Hyundai, as they're the cheapest vehicles to insure.
