Members from Portlaoise station along with the Roads Policing Unit discovered the vehicle while they were carrying out a checkpoint this morning.
The NCT had expired last February and an inspection of the vehicle also discovered brake defects.
The car was seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act as it was unroadworthy.
