Laois Has Seen Decrease In Burglaries In Second Quarter

They are down 12% compared to the same period in 2022

There's been a year-on-year decrease in burglaries in Laois.

Figures from the county's latest Joint Policing Committee show crimes of that variety have seen a 12% drop in the second quarter of this year, when compared to the same period in 2022.

Theft from shops are also down significantly at 38% , while public order offences have dropped by nearly a fifth, and drunkenness is down 16%.

Traffic crimes have also seen a reduction, with road fatalities in the county cut by a half, while intoxicated driving incidents are down 37%.
