The Minister for Enterprise officially opened the new facility.
A new Laois nursing home has been officially opened today.
The 101-bed facility was officially opened by Enterprise Minister, Peter Burke, at the Maltings in Portlaoise this afternoon.
The state-of-the-art nursing home is set to create 100 jobs, and features single ensuite rooms, equipped with a television, personal telephone and a Nurse call system.
CEO of emeis Ireland, Neal McGroarty, says the facility is opening at a time when Laois increasingly needs vital nursing home care for a growing and ageing population.
Minister Peter Burke said: "This occasion marks a significant milestone in emeis’ commitment to ensuring the well-being, care, and dignity of our elderly citizens, who have spent their lives building our communities.
It is extremely positive that emeis will be employing over 200 people in the Portlaoise area by 2025, both here and in its Kilminchy Nursing Home."
