Meetings have taken place with the HSE to address the issue.
Sinn Fein is concerned the majority of beds at a Laois Nursing Unit are not being used.
Laois Offaly TD Brian Stanley says there are 28 available spaces in Abbeyleix Community Nursing Unit, however only eight are full.
€4m has been spent refurbishing the facility in recent years.
Deputy Stanley has been meeting with the HSE to raise his concerns:

It follows a firm commitment from the HSE, having been closed for a prolonged period of time.
