Laois has recorded one of the strongest housing delivery performances in the country in the first half of 2026.
According to Hardware Association Ireland research, Laois ranks second in the country for new homes created, with 5.2 homes per 1,000 residents.
The study ranks councils according to their housing delivery rates, planning performance and progress against local housing goals.
Louth tops the table, delivering 6.6 new homes, with the figure sat at 2.9 in Offaly and 2.8 in Westmeath.
19 of Ireland’s 31 local authority areas reported rates below the national figure of 3.6.
