Laois Special School Secretary Stands Remotely With Strikers

Yvonne Abbey says she wishes she was in school in happier circumstances.

A Laois secretary in a special school says strike action puts more pressure on them than those in the mainstream system.

Secretaries and caretakers began an indefinite strike yesterday over pension and employment rights, with a march outside the Dail.

A series of regional demonstrations, including one outside the Department of Education in Athlone, are taking place at 11am today as part of the protest.

Yvonne Abbey, Secretary at Saplings Special School in Killeshin was unable to join the march in Dublin due to health issues.

She says it's not a easy decision:
