Fine Gael's Willie Aird says the 'local need' planning requirement blocks people from moving to rural areas.

A Laois TD believes people are being unfairly blocked from moving to rural areas in the county.

Fine Gael's Willie Aird is criticising a 'local need' planning requirement which requires people to prove they have a strong connection to the area they want to move to.

He says more and more workers are less reliant on urban amenities or work and can take up remote work due to broadband improvements.
