A Laois TD says he's 'lost all confidence' in HIQA's ability to enforce their safeguarding policies in nursing homes.
It comes after last week's RTE investigation into the standard of care in the Residence Nursing Home in Portlaoise.
Independent rep Brian Stanley feels the body holds a stricter standard on smaller independent homes, such as Ballard Lodge in the town which closed in April.
He's questioning the double standards in place:
