A Laois village lacks the required facilities and amenities to support two new IPAS centres.
That's according to Fianna Fail Deputy Sean Fleming, after almost 300 people met in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow on Monday evening to oppose the plans.
The proposal for the conversion of Peadar’s and Lennon’s Bars, include the provision for 12 and 10 bedrooms respectively, with an overall total of 60 IPAS expected.
The Laois TD says there's a lack of services, school places, and garda presence to support an influx in the area.
