A environmental expert from the midlands has been discussing possible causes.

A large hole in the ozone layer over the tropics has been discovered.

It is seven times larger than the well-known Antarctic ozone hole that opens up each year in spring.

It is reported to have existed for 30 years without being suspected.

Midlands Environmental and Planning Consultant Jack O'Sullivan says vehicle emissions could be one of the causes of the hole.
