10,600 abortions were carried out across the country last year.
There are fewer than 10 GP practices or clinics signed up to provide medical abortions in each of the Midlands counties, according to the Irish Independent.
The shortage means many women in the region are forced to travel for the procedures eight years after the eighth amendment was repealed.
Since then, GP practices have been able to provide abortion care in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Half of all Irish counties, including Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon, and Longford have less than 10 GPs or clinics offering the procedure.
There were 10,600 abortions carried out in Ireland last year, down 252 compared to 2024.
