The volunteers had a successful mission despite the rough conditions.
Lough Ree RNLI came to the rescue for a drifting motor cruiser over the weekend.
The crew was called by Malin Head Coast Gruard at 9.35 on Saturday night, after the cruiser went adrift near Portrunny Harbour on the north-west shore of Lough Ree.
The casualty vessel had broken its moorings and drifted out of the harbour with no one on board.
The inshore lifeboat Tara Scougall and her crew quickly brought the vessel to safety, despite the very conditions, before returning to base at Coosan Point, Athlone.
