Firefighters in Westmeath attended 19 bog fires over the weekend.
Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service crews remain at the scene of a major forest fire near the M6 Motorway.
Multiple stations from Westmeath Fire and Rescue Service have been attending the blaze near Milltownpass, and the road subsequently reopened when visibility improved.
The fire has been brought under control, although extensive areas of the site continue to smoulder.
The M6 Motorway is open, with emergency response activity continuing nearby.
Road users are asked to remain vigilant and follow any instructions from traffic management personnel.

Meanwhile, Emergency services attended the scenes of fires that broke out in the midlands over the weekend.
A hayfield site in Athy, Co Kildare broke out on Saturday, with fire services from both Athy and Stradbally in Laois attending.
The fire services reported to the scene between 3pm to 5.15pm and brought under control within an hour.
