The seizure of €8.4 million euro of cocaine prevented significant harm to communities, according to Gardai.
120 kilogrames of the drug were discovered following the search of two vehicles in the Lough Owel area of County Westmeath.
It's believed the drugs were flown into County Longford before being seized.
Homes were searched in Naas , County Kildare and in Waterford city , while a light aircraft was seized at a commercial airfield in County Longford.
