Gardai are investigating the incident.
A man has been hospitalised after an alleged assault in Westmeath.
The incident took place on Friday on Pearse Street in Athlone at around 10pm.
A man in his 20s was brought to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore for treatment to what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time as Gardaí continue to investigate.
