The incident occurred around 6am this morning.
A man in his 40s is in a critical condition in Mullingar Regional Hospital following a crash in Westmeath.
The incident involving a truck and a car occurred at 6 o'clock this morning in the Churchtown area of Ballinea.
The driver of the truck, who's in his 50s was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A technical examination of the scene was completed at lunchtime and the road has reopened.
Investigations are ongoing.
