The incident happened on the N4 in Rathowen at around 12.30pm.
A man in his 70's remains in a serious condition in hospital following a collision in Westmeath.
Gardai investigating the crash, which occurred on the N4 in Rathowen at around 12.30pm on Thursday 15th of December, are appealing for witnesses.
A car collided with an articulated truck, and the driver of the car was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar.
No one else was injured in the crash.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam or camera footage is being asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station.
