The posters have recently appeared in Portarlington.
Mattie McGrath says he's not responsible for posters in the midlands, which are calling for a referendum on immigration.
A representative from the Independent TD's office says they only became aware of the posters, which have been erected in Portarlington, because of a post on Twitter.
They also say whoever is responsible did not request permission to use Deputy McGrath's face on the signboard.
However, in a statement to Midlands 103, his office says he has called for a referendum on the levels of undocumented migrants entering the country.
Offaly County Council says it's been made aware of the posters.
A spokesperson from Mattie McGrath's office says:
"We only became aware of the posters when they appeared on twitter and someone notified us of them.
We are not responsible for erecting the posters and have no knowledge of who erected the posters. They did not seek permission to use Deputy McGrath’s photograph on their posters.
We have notified the Laois County Council to inform them that we bear no responsibility for the posters.
Deputy McGraths position on the matter is on public record where he has called for a referendum on the levels of undocumented migrants entering the country."
