Midlands Animal Charity Slams ‘Disgusting’ Drop In Equine Welfare Cases

No prosecutions were handed out last year for aninal cruelty.

A midlands animal rescue charity is describing the lack of equine welfare prosecutions as 'disgusting'. 

The comments come as the Department of Agriculture did not initiate any prosecutions related to equine welfare in the past year, with only four recorded in 2024.

Martina Kenny is the co-founder of My Lovely Horse Animal Rescue outside Edenderry which rescued 68 horses last year, compared to 93 the previous year.
