The grants aim to back local projects to protect wildlife and improve habitats.

Midlands groups are set to receive over €94,000 in funding to strengthen biodiversity action.

The investment from Community Foundation Ireland and the National Parks and Wildlife Service, will support practical, community-led measures to enhance habitats, protect wildlife, and encourage local engagement with nature.

Six groups in Laois are in line for €44,000, including Ballinakill Tidy Towns, Clonad GAA and Mountmellick Women’s Shed.

Whereas in Westmeath there's €50,000 going towards Delvin Tidy Towns, Irish Woodland Trust, Athlone GAA and 3 more groups.
