Car thefts were attempted over the course of the bank holiday weekend.
Gardaí are warning people in Laois of attempted car thefts over the weekend.
It comes as a small number of vehicles were reportedly targeted for theft or damage over recent nights in the Portarlington area, some which are commonly known as Japanese imports.
Gardaí are asking owners to lock their vehicles, remove their keys and park in well-lit areas.
People are also encouraged to use steering locks, alarms and CCTV where available.
Gardaí say patrols will continue and are asking anyone with information or who notices suspicious activity to contact their local station or emergency services.
