It's following a surge of cases in Laois, Offaly and Kildare.
It's understood the National Public Health Emergency Team is recommending closing cafes, restaurants and pubs in Laois, Offaly and Kildare.
The restrictions are likely to be in place for two weeks.
Sporting events could also be postponed and gyms could also close.
People will be only allowed to travel within the county unless it's for work or medical reasons.
