Midlands County Councils Receiving Over €12m In Commercial Rates Rebate

Rates have been waived for the year in light of the covid-19 crisis.

Local authorities in the midlands are receiving a commercial rates rebate of over €12 million.

Rate payments for businesses were waived earlier this year in response to the covid crisis, with the government stepping in to bridge the gap in county council revenue.

Westmeath is receiving €5.5 million, Laois is allocated €4 million, with €3 million going to Offaly County Council.
