We can expect wind to pick up tonight and carry on throughout the weekend.
The midlands is expected to escape the worst of the winds, with a Yellow Wind Warning in place for five counties in the West beginning at 3am on Saturday, and Clare, Kerry and Leitrim join them from 3pm.
As we approach Christmas Eve, winds are predicted to die down, with temperatures picking up.
