69 per cent of centres polled by a representative group named it as a major area of concern.
Most of those polled say overall demand has gone up by more than a quarter.
Six of Ireland's 121 family resource centres are in the midlands - Cara Phort and Monsignor McCarthy in Westmeath, in Portlaoise and Mountmellick in Laois, and Arden View and Clara in Offaly.
