Midlands House Prices Continue To Surge Amid National Slowdown

Experts expect price increases to continue into the future.

The average worker needs eight times their salary to buy a new home.

That's according to a new report by MyHome.ie which shows house prices in Westmeath jumped 12% in the last year, to €280,000.

They're up 8.2% in Offaly to €249,00, and just under 7% in Laois to €230,000.

Nationally, asking price inflation is starting to slow down - at 5.7% in the year to September, which is down slightly on the previous quarter.

However, Chief Economist with Bank of Ireland, Conall MacCoille says it doesn't mean prices are dropping:
