EU tariffs of 25% on US animal feed products are set for next month.
A Midlands MEP is calling on the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development to appeal the animal feed tariffs.
It comes as EU tariffs of 25% on US animal feed products are set for next month.
These tariffs will increase the price of animal feed by approximately €15 per tonne.
With imports of over 5.7 million tonnes of animal feed annually, this rise will be an extra Irish farming burden of approximately €85 million per year.
