Over half of vehicles pass the inspection first-time in the midlands.
A midlands NCT centre had the highest pass rate in the country in 2021.
Six in ten of the 42,000 vehicles inspected in Portlaoise passed on the first attempt last year.
34,000 cars were checked at the centre in Tullamore, 57% of those passed on the first-go.
Both NCT centres in Westmeath had a pass rate of 54% - of the 58 thousand vehicles inspected, 11,000 passed first-time in Mullingar, and 10,000 in Athlone.
Nationally, just over half of vehicles passed on their first try - Carlow had the lowest rate in Ireland, at just 42%.
