The cases of TB have risen yet again this year.
Bovine TB is costing Ireland over a €100m per year.
Midlands Northwest MEP Maria Walsh has met with the European Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare to discuss the issue.
In the year to March 2025, there were 41,548 cases of bovine TB detected on Irish farms - an increase of over 11,600 on the previous 12 months.
Ms Walsh believes an updated EU animal disease strategy is required to tackle the issue.
