The programme seeks to deliver learning experiences that integrate local and national heritage into classroom teaching and promote students’ awareness and appreciation of natural, built, and cultural heritage.
Schools in Laois, Offaly and Westmeath are to be included in the programme.
The Heritage in Schools in primary schools delivered over three thousand visits across more than 1,000 schools and reached approximately 172,000 pupils since it began up until last year.
The closing date for heritage practitioners applying to participate in the programme is July 6th, with the programme expected to launch in schools in 2027.
