It comes as teachers say preparations for sacraments shouldn't be done in class.
A Midlands priest says prayers should start at home.
Abbeyleix parish priest Fr. Paddy Byrne believes you can't measure peoples faith by how frequently they visit the church, however he says together we are stronger.
This follows recent findings by the INTO that a majority of primary school teachers believe preparation for Confirmation or Communion shouldn't take place in the classroom.
Just 4% believe the responsibility of communion and confirmation should take place within schools.
