Midlands Primary Care Centre Gets Green Light

Social Democrat cllr Clare Claffey says it's fantastic news for the area.

Permission has been granted for a new Primary Care Centre in the Midlands.

The new Birr Primary Care Centre was proposed more than a decade ago, and has been long-awaited from the people of Offaly since then.

The project has been met with several delays, stemming mainly from issues with choosing a site, before being sent to the HSE for approval in late 2021.

The building will include a number of consulting rooms, treatment areas and an 800 metre squared surgery space for general practitioners.

Social Democrat cllr Clare Claffey says it's fantastic news for the area, as people in the area have to wait over a week for a GP appointment:

Independent Laois Offaly TD Carol Nolan says “it is absolutely vital that new development goes ahead at full steam as it will provide Primary Care, Public Health, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Allied Teams Facilities, Dental and Mental Health services.
