90 projects from 20 local councils made the final.

One midlands project has been shortlisted for the Excellence in Local Government Awards.

The awards are held each year by Chambers Ireland in partnership with the Department of Local Government.

In total, 90 projects from 20 local councils have been announced as finalists this year.

Laois County Council's Abbeyleix Community Climate Action Project is in the running for an award in the Supporting Sustainable Communities category.

The awards ceremony will take place on November 18th.
