Midlands Pubs Raise A Glass To Ireland’s Peatland Heritage

Six midlands pubs will be taking part.

Ireland's bogs and peatlands are being celebrated through a series of specially commission beer mats.

Pubs across the Midlands will receive the mats focusing on Ireland’s peatlands over the next few days.

The project is highlighting a range of ancient artefacts, including the Brockagh Bronze Age axe and the Ralaghan figurine, alongside remarkable ecological specimens such as the carnivorous sundew and the Devil’s Matchstick lichen.

The mats feature a QR code that directs users to more in-depth stories, images, and information about the country’s peatlands.

The beer mats will be distributed across six midlands pubs, with three pubs part of the initiative in Offaly and three in Laois.

The pubs listed for distribution:

The Trap, Clara, Co. Offaly

Dolan’s, Clara Co. Offaly

The Pull Inn, Pullough, Co. Offaly

Morrissey’s, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois

Mooney’s, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois

The Manor Bar, Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois

The Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, Co. Meath

Jack’s Bar, Kells, Co. Meath
