Midlands Residents Fight To Save 5 Decade Old Trees

The work threatening the trees has been deferred.

A campaign to save a series of 50-year-old trees in the midlands has proved successful.

The push to halt plans to remove the trees along the Grand Canal in Tullamore, was instigated by residents in Pearse Park earlier this month.

Following a Special meeting of the local authority, the residents have been told the work has been deferred, and the trees will remain.

But Independent Councillor Sean O'Brien says there's no guarantee in place yet:
