Midlands Student Winner Of Horse Racing Ireland Initiative

Her poetry covered the topic of raising a foal to be a race horse.

A midlands student has been annaounced as the winner of a Horse Racing Ireland project.

The Foal To Race TY programme focuses on education surrounding all things horse racing related.

Ruth Shanley of Columba College in Killucan, Westmeath won for her poem on raising a foal to be a race horse.

She was awarded €1,000 for her school, a VIP behind-the-scenes trip to a racecourse for her and her class and a family pass to the Irish National Stud in co. Kildare.
