The Justice Minister says 248 children have spent at least four years in a centre.
Over 1,000 refugees or asylum-seekers have been in the direct provision system for at least four years.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee says 248 of them are children, and 791 are adults.
They've spent their time in direct provision centres, hotels, guests houses or similar accommodation.
