Athlone is one of the cheapest towns in the country for students.
A new survey by Switcher.ie shows the Westmeath town ranks in fifth place, behind Letterkenny, Sligo, Waterford and Dundalk when it comes to rent and fees.
Meanwhile, Carlow has been named in the top five most expensive, when it comes to accommodation, fees and entertainment costs.
The average cost for rent for those attending TUS is €1,301 euro a month, while those in S-E-T-U are paying €1,353.
Dublin is the most expensive at €1,730.
