A midlands Councillor is coming to the defence of the people of his town, after being criticised for plans for "goodie bags" for Ukrainian refugees.
Up to 55 women, children and elderly are to be accommodated at the old shoe factory in Edenderry, as part of the State's effort to house those fleeing the war in Ukraine.
Fine Gael Councillor Noel Cribbin has asked people in the town to make a donation of five euro to provide the basics for the refugees, plans for which were subject to criticism on social media.
But, Councillor Cribbin says that's not the view of everyone in Edenderry, and the kitty already has over €600:
