Other offences detected over the period include driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving while using a mobile phone.
A case of speeding in Westmeath is among the most notable speeding offences caught during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Gardaí recorded a motorist driving at 81km/h in a 50km/h zone along the R934 at Finnea.
In total, over 3,800 drivers were detected for speeding offences over the bank holiday weekend nationwide.
Along with speeding, other offences included almost 300 instances of using a mobile phone while driving, 174 unaccompanied learner drivers and 106 cases of a seatbelt not being worn.
Of the learner permit holders driving unaccompanied, over 115 vehicles were seized by Gardaí, and more than 450 vehicles were seized due to having no tax or insurance.
Over 180 arrests were made for driving while under the influence of an intoxicant - a total of 4,918 roadside drug and alcohol tests were conducted over the bank holiday weekend period.
