Dublin Lord Mayor Hazel Chu is facing the motion after she decided to run in the Seanad by-elections without the support of the party.
It was lodged by three Green Senators, including Offaly's Pippa Hackett, after Councillor Chu received six personal nominations to get on the ballot - including from the deputy leader Catherine Martin.
