Motorists Urged To Be Careful As Emergency Services Deal With Fallen Trees

Emergency services are dealing with fallen trees across the midlands this morning.

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution, with number of roads are affected, particularly in Westmeath, in the aftermath of Storm Ellen.

The ESB is also working to repair faults, with 5,000 homes and business around the region still without power.

Director of Services at Westmeath County Council, Barry Kehoe, says they received about 30 calls of fallen trees this morning, with most dealt with by now.

While no flooding was recorded overnight, they're monitoring levels in the River Shannon:

A status yellow rain warning has now been issued for the entire country until 5 o'clock tomorrow morning.
