The lack of an ASD class in St. Colmcille's N.S leading to exclusion of children in the area.
The National Council for Special Education is reviewing the demand for an autism unit at a midlands school.
It comes after the 'IncredAbilities group' in Rathdowney and Errill said the lack of an ASD class in St. Colmcille's National School is leading to the "segregation" of children with additional needs in the area.
The Department of Education says the local NCSE SENO is in contact with the principal of the school and with the parents of children.
It also says parents will be notified as new special class placements become available and if any new classes are sanctioned within the area.
